Tracking Calories: The Wake-Up Call I Didn't Know I Needed
To support my weight loss journey, I've been working on exercising more and keeping track of what I eat by logging it. My diet isn't terrible, but I wasn’t seeing steady progress with my weight. Interestingly, I started using the free version of MyFitnessPal to log my food. It was a wake-up call I didn't know I needed, and I was absolutely embarrassed to see my weekend snacks constantly showing up in red.
ACCURACY
Tracking calories really helps me see what I’m actually eating, instead of just guessing I’m eating healthy all the time. I used to think I was eating right until I started keeping track of all my habits, including those sneaky snacks and little eating patterns I had overlooked. It’s a great way to get a better handle on my health journey.
PORTION CONTROL
I find it hard to control my portions, but the app really helps me get a better idea of what's in my food. Weighing my meals makes things way clearer and more accurate. I was pretty surprised to see that, the amount I ate didn't match what I expected. I assumed I was eating the serving size listed on the label. Turns out, my portions were way heavier than they should have been.
ENCOURAGES CONSISTENT PROGRESS
Tracking food is all about collecting data and setting goals, like trying to lose weight. With this info, I can see when I’m overeating each day. That dreaded red line showing too much food can feel kind of discouraging, but it also acts as a reminder and a reality check. Still, it pushes me to eat healthier consistently.
