Skipping Rope Cardio
Part of my lifestyle change is to add exercise to my daily routine. Previously I got bored of running and stopped doing exercise altogether. I looked into getting a gym membership, but it would be difficult for me to get to. Buying a treadmill isn’t an option as the garage is now a storage building. So, I looked into alternative cardio options and skipping came up. I hadn’t done this since I was an early teenager but thought it was worth a try.
One advantage of skipping is that there is very little prep involved.
With skipping, I don't have to set up beforehand and there's very little travel involved. It’s just a matter of stepping outside and getting started. There’s no need to worry about informing someone else of my plans. Or concern that I’ll cut into anyone else’s routine or interests. In turn, there’s no time wasted searching for five different layers of clothing, plus a high vis. Most of all, there's no danger of being hit by a car.
To start, my stamina levels are rather limited, I found myself stoping and starting. My ability at skipping isn’t the best but it’s about trying and with time it will improve. Skipping builds muscle, strengthens the core and lungs. Therefore like all things my ability will grow, my body will adapt and get stronger.
