Routine Creates The Future

My life is currently full of procrastination and wasted days. It turns out my time-wasting tactics are how I avoid the unknown. It usually takes me longer than necessary to start a new project. I’ve realised that these patterns aren't helping me make progress. So, I need to create structure and consistency in my life. One way to do this is to build a solid routine. Routine is essentially a way to train me to prioritise what matters.

Once the route of habits is set, it’s easier to keep moving forward.

Routine is one way to break a goal down into something achievable. Each new habit will chip away at this current person and into someone better. Habits formed through routine become automatic, so eventually, the new habits feel less like chores and more like instinct. I won’t be grappling with my emotions every day. As I will be building the change needed in my life.

That’s when the future starts looking brighter.

A routine shows stacked-up progress.

Routine can be ticked off, which shows the steady daily effort put into a goal. For example, goals of mine include:

  1. Maintaining health and appearance through fitness

  2. fixing my diet

  3. Side hustle

  4. Track my spending

These goals don’t feel huge right now. However, brick by brick I will have a stronger body and possibly a business. Anyone who’s achieved something big leans on routines to turn ambition into results, so I’m on the right path. Not necessarily the shortest route but it’s progress. Flexibility matters as it has to be as adaptable to the unexpected. When routine it’s intentional and tied to goals I have, it’s a tool to shape tomorrow. Through this, procrastination is dealt with and a better future is created.
